Step-by-step instructions on how to crochet the flower

Start the flower by working in rounds the simple crochet mesh. The spiral petals of the flower will be created in the last round. Each petal begins with the complex stitch, on top of which we are crocheting a spiral in 2 rows.
This beautiful crochet flower can be made in different variations by modifying the last round. While working the last round you can crochet only spiral petals or you can also create the volumetric center by making an additional elements in the center.
For this crochet project we used a ball of Multicolor Space Dyed Yarn: 55% cotton 45% polyacryl, 160m in 50g.; and a crochet hook 2.25 mm or 2 mm.

Written tutorial – How to make a crochet flower

Hi everyone. In this tutorial you will see how to make this beautiful flower with 6 spiral petals.
The central part of this flower has 6 petals which can be seen only on the front of the flower. On the back those petals are not visible, you can see just a simple mesh.
Also I will explain how you can create the same flower but without those petals in the center. In this case you flower will look like this one.
For work I will be using Space Dyed Yarn and a crochet hook.
Begin the work by making a chain of 6, and join the chain in the round by making a slip stitch into the first chain stitch. The foundation ring is ready.
Begin the 1-st round: chain 1 to bring up the yarn, and sc 11 into the ring. Complete the first round my making a slip stitch into the first chain stitch. The first round is ready!
The 2-nd round is a round of chain spaces: chain 1 to bring up the yarn, then chain 3 for the chain space and sc into the next stitch of previous round; repeat chain 3 and sc into the next stitch, chain 3 and sc, chain 3 and sc… Continue and work the same till the end of the round. There should be 12 chain spaces in this round.
Once you sced into the last stitch of previous round, chain 3 for the last chain space, and then complete the round by making a slip stitch into the first chain stitch of this round. The second round is ready!
Start round 3, which will be the same a round of chain spaces: first to move the yarn make a slip stitch into each of next 2 chain stitches, then chain 1 to bring up the yarn, chain 3 and sc into the next chain space of previous round, repeat chain 3 and sc in the next chain space, again chain 3 and sc into the next chain space. Continue and work the same till the end of the round.
To complete the round, once you made 3 chain stitches for the last chain space slip into the first chain stitch we made on the beginning of this round. Round 3 is made!
The 4th round will be exactly the same as round 3, so repeat: first move the yarn to the center of the first chain space by making a slip stitch into each of next 2 chain stitches, then chain 1 to bring up the yarn, chain 3 for the chain space and sc into the next chain space of previous round, repeat chain 3 and sc in the next chain space, again chain 3 and sc into the next chain space. Continue the same till the end of the round.
To complete round 4, chain 3 for the last chain space and then slip into the first chain stitch we made on the beginning of this round. Round 4 is ready!
The next 2 rounds will be a round of a bit larger chain spaces.
Let’s start round 5: the same to move the to the center of the first chain space of previous round make a slip stitch into each of next 2 chain stitches, then chain 1 to bring up the yarn, chain 4 for the chain space and sc into the next chain space of previous round, repeat chain 4 and sc in the next chain space, again chain 4 and sc into the next chain space. Continue and work the same till the end of the round.
Here I made 4 chain stitches for the last chain space, now to complete the round make a slip stitch into the into the first chain stitch we made on the beginning of this round. Round 5 is completed!
Round 6 will be exactly the same as round 5, so repeat: first move the yarn to the center of the first chain space by making a slip stitch into each of next 2 chain stitches, then chain 1 to bring up the yarn, chain 4 for the chain space and sc into the next chain space of previous round, repeat chain 4 and sc in the next chain space, again chain 4 and sc into the next chain space. Continue the same till the end of the round.
To complete round 6, chain 4 for the last chain space and then slip into the first chain stitch we made on the beginning of this round. Round 6 is ready!
Begin round 7 – round of sc stitches: chain 1 to bring up the yarn, sc 4 into the first chain space, sc into the next sc and again sc 4 into the next chain space, and sc into the next sc of previous round; repeat the same: sc 4 into the next chin space and then sc in to the following sc stitch. Continue and work in this way till the end of the round.
I am about to complete round 7, once you r done working into the last chain space, make a slip stitch into the first chain stitch we made on the beginning of the same round. Round 7 is ready!
Now let’s start the last round, round 8, where I will be crocheting spiral petals, made of complex stitches. Chain 1 to bring up the yarn, then sc into the same chain stitch made on the beginning of previous round.
Now let’s make the foundation for the petal, start the complex stitch: chain 1 (in this chain stitch we will work later to create the complex stitch) and then chain 4 more to bring up the yarn, now begin the treble crochet stitch (yoh twice), work into the 5th chain stitch away from the hook or it is the first one away from the sc we made; insert the hook into the stitch, pull up a loop and do not complete the treble, YO and pull through 2 loops on the hook, repeat twice.
2 loops remain on the hook. Hold these loops and begin the second treble working into the same stitch. YOH twice pull up a loop, then YO and pull through 2 loops on the hook 1 and 2.
Now 3 loops remains on the hook. Again Hold these loops and start the next stitch, double treble – YOH 3 times, insert the hook into the same chain stitch, pool up a loop, then YO and pull through 2 loops on the hook, repeat 3 times. Do not complete this double treble as well.
We have 4 loops on the hook now. Hold these loops and start the last stitch – the quadruple treble stitch (YOH 5) and work this stitch into the 9th sc of previous round (it is the firth sc made into the second chain space – THIS is the first chain space with stitches, and HERE is the second one). Find the last 4th sc made into this second chain space. AGAIN HERE is the second chains pace, count 1 2 3 and work into the 4th sc made into this chain space.
Insert the hook, pool up a loop, then YO and pull though 2 5 times, work till you have 5 loops on the hook, then YO and complete the complex stitch by pooling through all loop on the hook at once.
This complex stitch we’ve just completed is the foundation for our spiral petal. Now I will show you how to complete the petal. So to continue turn the work to the back and work under THESE chain stitches we started the complex stitch with: make 9 sc stitches. Then turn the work to the front and now sc 9 under the post of THESE double treble stitch. Work under the post – sc 9. Now I will continue working around to create a spiral, I will be working under the post THIS first treble stitch and then under THIS next one. I am making a spiral going around first the outer circle and then the inner one!
So turn the work and under the post of the first treble sc 7. Work the way to have all the stitches coming to the front of the flower. Then turn the work and again sc 7 under the post of the next treble stitch.
Lets see what we have so fat. We have created the center of our spiral petal. Now I will be going backwards working through the same stitches we’ve just made.
Turn the work clockwise, chain 1 to bring up the yarn and starting from the first stitch, do not skip any sc stitches sc 7 in a row. Still continue work on another side sc into each of next 6 stitches, hdc into the next stitch.
And now continue work into the next stitch of our spiral: into the next stitch work 2 stitches - hdc and dc into the same stitch.
I will stop for a while just to show you what we’ve got so for. HERE is our spiral, its central part and now I will continue working AROUNT the spiral and to complete the petal I will be working around the post of quadruple treble stitch....
